Troubleshooting Your XM Radio

IF YOU SEE THIS ON THE DISPLAYTRY THIS:
No SignalThis means that the XM receiver is not getting a signal. Make sure the XM antenna is in a southern-facing window. Move the antenna around to see if the signal strength improves. If the antenna is mounted outside, try re-aiming it. If re-aligning the antenna does not work, try unplugging everything and let it sit for a few minutes, then plug it back in. If that still does not work, call XM for Business Listener Care at 1-866-596-7040 to see if there is a repeater out in your area. If none of these steps work and there is not a signal outage in your area, your equipment may need to be replaced.
AntennaThis means that the XM unit cannot detect the antenna. Make sure the XM antenna cable is firmly and securely plugged into the cradle. Make sure the XM antenna cable is not bent or broken. Turn your XM radio off, then on, to reset this message. If none of these steps work, then the XM antenna and/or the antenna input may be bad and may need to be replaced.
Off AirThe channel you've selected is not currently broadcasting. Tune to another channel.
LoadingYour XM radio is acquiring audio or program information from the XM satellite. This message usually goes away in a few seconds.
UpdatingXM is updating your XM radio with the latest encryption code. Wait until the update is complete. This message may also display when you are trying to tune to a channel that is unavailable or blocked.

If you are certain your radio is already active and should still be active, sometimes a simple refresh of the satellite signal is all you need. If that does not work, please call us to verify your account status.

No Sound 1. Check the audio out on the XM receiver
If the screen is displaying the channel and song information properly and you do not have any of the above screen errors, the XM receiver is probably working fine. If you have a pair of headphones, plug them in to the audio-out on the back of the receiver or docking station. If you do not hear music, that means the audio out on the XM unit is bad and it needs to be replaced. If you do hear music, that means the issue is in the connections or the sound system itself.
2. Check all connections
Make sure that everything is connected securely and in the right place. If anything was loose or unplugged, that may have been the issue.
3. Check the amp/stereo
Try connecting another music source (i.e. CD or MP3 player) to the amplification unit . If you do not hear anything, make sure that the amplifier is on the correct auxiliary input setting and that the unit is actually getting power. If you still cannot get sound, you may need to replace the amp/stereo system and/or the speaker wire and/or speakers. If you do get sound with another music source and the auxiliary settings are correct, you may need to replace the audio cable connecting the XM receiver to the amplifier.
Unit Will Not Power OnThe XM receiver and/or A/C power supply may be bad. Please contact the manufacturer of your XM unit for warranty information. If the warranty on the unit has passed, you may need to purchase a new receiver. If the XM unit is replaced by either method, please call us at 1-866-596-7040 to give us your new Radio ID.
